Crypto awareness drive in Burundi

In this program, we launched the classes under the name of Trezor Academy program.
About the classes:

  • Trezor Academy Burundi, a collaboration between Free Tech Institute and Trezor, aimed to expedite Bitcoin adoption in Burundi. It comprised three consecutive Saturday meetups, educating the youth about cryptocurrencies, their advantages, and practical applications. The series of meetups covered “Why Bitcoin?”, “How to Use Bitcoin?”, and “What Bitcoiners Should Do?” with insightful presentations, practical exercises, and certificate awards.
  • Three-hour sessions per meetup resulted in the certification of 25 participants, primarily members of the University of Burundi’s Club d’Actualité Économique

Achievements:

  • Practical Application: Participants engaged in practical exercises, boosting their confidence in executing Bitcoin transactions.
  • Community Engagement: Some participants committed to organizing debate sessions, involving students from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.
  • Enhanced Understanding: All participants demonstrated a logical comprehension of Bitcoin, emphasizing the effectiveness of the training

Trezor Academy Burundi not only educated participants but also acted as a catalyst for community engagement and potential partnerships. This aligns seamlessly with the Free Tech Institute’s commitment to decentralizing finance, privacy, and technology.

Key Impacts:

  • Educating University Students: Equipping 25 students with knowledge about decentralized monetary systems
  • Promoting Economic Development: Raising awareness about the benefits of decentralized technological services and cryptocurrencies.
